Map and lamp

When I was living in Japan I went to the town hall and picked up this map. They just gave it to me! Being one of two foreigners in about a 40 mile radius did have its advantages. Man, I just love maps.

(This was what was in the tube.)

Have you seen the SAM exhibition of the Kobe museum’s map collection? It has maps created during the first introduction of Western culture to Japan, and is an awesome comparison of Japanese vs. European map design.
