Just moving this one up to the front of my stream to bring attention to Lightbox Photographic’s “Spooky” show! This image was my one entry for the show, and will be displayed at the gallery in Astoria from October 10th through November 10th.
An artists’ reception will held be on October 10th, 5-9pm, in conjunction with the Astoria Art Walk. A second reception will be held on October 30, 6-8pm, where cash and prizes will be awarded to winning entries. I may be present at the latter reception. I hope some of you can make it out there… I was informed there will be over 40 artists exhibiting in the show! This particular image of mine will be for sale - I had it printed at 10x10” and matted/framed in a standard gallery-type black wood frame.
Here’s some information regarding the gallery:

The Dark Shore
The dark shore rises like the back of a mystic beast curved, straining, swallowing mouthfuls of ocean so that the waves might move its tongue to speak. Rocks rumble low, groaning the stories of their birth, admitting in the secrecy of low light that they’d rather be sunk back into the belly of the world.
I’ve always been a fan of dark, gritty back and white images… they stir something in me. Never technically perfect, they are dense with words and ideas and atmosphere. When I first saw this image, I thought to myself, it’s underexposed. And then I thought, I love it.
Taken at Smelt Sands with my Zero Image 2000 pinhole camera, at an exposure of around 15 minutes (during dusk).
