Badass. Saved for inspiration.
Saved for inspiration.
“I realized recently that what one thinks about in the shower in the morning is more important than I’d thought. I knew it was a good time to have ideas. Now I’d go further: now I’d say it’s hard to do a really good job on anything you don’t think about in the shower.” Completely agree.
As usual, the process behind design is always fascinating. “Hi Score” always cracks me up too.
Gorgeous collection of menus from the New York Public Library. Saved for reference.
Fantastic commencement speech about perspective in life. When reading it I couldn’t help but hear my mother’s voice saying, “You don’t have to look very far to see someone worse off then yourself.”
paper + laser cut = ♥

Saved to drool over later.
“My new years resolution is to make an infographic on every This American Life ever made. The idea is to expand and add context to the stories and information contained in the shows. Basically, anything I am curious about while listening to the pieces.” Lovely.
Drool.
Not totally sold, but very interesting stuff.
I love the attention to detail given to these infographics. The craft and time that went into creating them is so apparent. My assumption is it’s because people really thought they would be around for a long time. Unfortunately, it’s all to common for me to feel the stuff I’m working on is just going to be deleted pixels in a few years.
She’s got game.
Damn, this is just gorgeous.
Beautifully executed idea.
Saved for that day when I get around to buying a house.
I absolutely adore these design solutions to everyday products. Dig the multi-adapter solution as well.
Gorgeous.
“In praise of the chrome logos and lettering affixed to vintage automobiles and electric appliances — those unsung metal emblems and badges that are overlooked, forgotten, damaged, lost to time or the dump.” I absolutely adore these logos, and this site shows them off brilliantly.
When I hear people tell me:
“What camera should I get to take better pictures?”
Or:
“How do people find the time to write?”
Or my personal favorite:
“If I only had the time…”
It drives me crazy. These are all just essentially excuses for the same problem. Just do it already.
It’s not about the camera, it’s about using it. It’s not about finding the time to write, it’s about sitting down and doing it. It’s not about having time, it’s about making time.
Time is a finite resource. It’s so damn cliche to say, but as I approach my 29th birthday and am surrounded by 22 and 23 year olds who are incredibly smart, talented and accomplished it’s even more apparent. Just decide what you want to do and work you ass off doing it. Putting something off or waiting until later isn’t going to get it done.
Stop, or at the very least reduce, the re-blogging, re-tweeting, re-sharing, regurgitation and make something. Produce content. Create a great design, dust off that camera and start taking photos or close that browser and start writing.
Because trust me, there are plenty of people out there sharing. Do something different…
Make something.
I love reading about the design process, but this video showing the evolution of Convert for the iPhone is even better.
A great resource of photos of gorgeous hand painted signs from around the world.
“How can you make today better? Do it again the next day. Put it on your calendar. Spend two minutes thinking about this each morning.” I’ve heard things similar to this before, but this is a great reminder.
Can’t. Stop. Drooling. Great iconography work here.
I’m addicted to reading and finding as much as I can about this mission with this anniversary. I didn’t live through it, and yet I feel connected and mesmerized by the events. It makes me a bit sad when I think about NASA and my perception of it now. I really do hope great things will come from NASA and space exploration in my lifetime, but I’m skeptical.
“I think creativity can solve anything, ANYTHING!”
Gorgeous stuff from Paul Tebbott. I really want to try my hand at some posters in this style. He and Scott Hansen are just so damn good.
Some previously unreleased photos of Audrey Hepburn. Damn, she was attractive.
