The switch is complete. It’s hard to admit it after years of blindly defending the electric but I’m now a straight razor man. I few months ago my electric razor got stolen and I ended up picking up a Gillette Mach 3 at the store to cover me until I could get a chance to go buy a new one. I’ll be honest, it was tough. After a lifetime of shaving using an electric it wasn’t easy to get used to the straight razor. I was determined though, and after a few months now I’m never going back. Yeah, it’s a little more work in the morning, and you definitely have to be more awake, but it’s just so much faster. Now if you’ve never compared the two I can see why this wouldn’t make much sense, but since I’ve got a thick beard I’d spend far too long going over and over it with the electric.
At first the straight razor wasn’t nearly as close of shave, but now that the beard is fully grown to the straight razor I’m done in about 5 minutes. It’s now closer then electric too. I was sold, the Mach 3 was my razor. I went and picked up a replacement blade pack and was set.
But then, two weeks ago, my uncle tossed me a sample of none other than the Fusion. Yes, as if three blades wasn’t enough they’re offering the 5+1 model now. It seems damn gimmicky but it’s incredible. It’s noticeably better then the Mach 3, especially if you shave every day and when you get a fresh blade, whoa buddy, it’s like a whole new face.
Yes, I’ve succumb to the “first one is free” trick but I don’t care. Once I work through the remaining Mach 3 blades it’s Fusion for life…
…well I guess they do have that battery powered one now too…
